What to Do Before You Arrive
Knocked-out tooth: Handle it by the crown (not the root), rinse gently, and try to place it back in the socket. If that is not possible, keep it moist in milk or saliva and get to our office within 30 to 60 minutes for the best chance of reimplantation.
Broken or fractured tooth: Rinse your mouth with warm water, apply a cold compress to reduce swelling, and save any tooth fragments if possible. Call us right away to schedule an emergency evaluation.
Soft tissue injury: Apply gentle pressure with clean gauze to control bleeding. If the bleeding does not stop or the laceration is deep, seek prompt evaluation.
Long-Term Restoration After Trauma
After the immediate injury is stabilized, your surgeon creates a follow-up plan to monitor healing and coordinate any restorative work needed. This may include crowns, bridges, or dental implants depending on the extent of the injury.
For teeth that cannot be saved, our surgeons can plan and place dental implants to restore your smile. When bone loss has occurred at the injury site, bone grafting may be recommended to rebuild the foundation before implant placement.
